Hey all~

So I was working on a site as a subcontractor and the issue came up that as they increased the size of their site, "small" changes to nav bars and footers were becoming rather major. So the issue of a PHP or server-side include could simplify things, but the suffixes of the web pages would change and they were concerned that their ranking in search engines would drop and that was not acceptable.

I wasn't concerned with this when I recently redid my own site but did notice when checking search engines and with Google Analytics that the name changes from .html to .php did cause some issues.

So has anyone come up with a strategy for this type of situation? My first thought was to set up the old (html) home page to redirect to the php page but that seems kind of counter-productive.

Any thoughts out there?
